Mike Coffman on Wednesday called on the Aurora Republican to unload $10,000 in campaign contributions from a fellow GOP lawmaker under fire for settling a former aide's sexual harassment complaint with taxpayer money — but a Coffman spokesman said he'd already donated the funds earlier in the day to a local nonprofit that works to empower young women.

Mike Coffman in the most recent fundraising quarter, but the five-term incumbent outspent his challenger in Colorado's battleground 6th Congressional District and had more cash on hand at the end of the year, according to reports the campaigns plan to file with the Federal Election Commission.

A Republican vacancy committee on Thursday elected Shane Sandbridge, a Colorado Springs investment consultant and former police officer, to become the next representative of House District 14. Sandridge will replace state Rep. Dan Nordberg, R-Colorado Springs, who is stepping down in January to take a job as regional administrator of the Small Business Administration.

Democrat and gun control activist Ken Toltz on Monday announced he's suspending his campaign for the congressional seat held by U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, who is running for governor. Toltz said in a release he's putting the campaign he launched in early October on hold to focus his attention on what he called a serious health situation in his immediate family.
