Russians intending to influence the 2016 presidential election targeted Colorado and other swing states as part of a multi-million dollar operation to "sow discord" among Americans while helping Republican Donald Trump defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton, according to an indictment released Friday naming 13 Russians and three Russian organizations.

Democrat Jason Crow outraised Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman in the most recent fundraising quarter, but the five-term incumbent outspent his challenger in Colorado's battleground 6th Congressional District and had more cash on hand at the end of the year, according to reports the campaigns plan to file with the Federal Election Commission.

Douglas County Republican Roger Edwards plans to announce Wednesday that he’s challenging U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman in next year’s GOP primary, charging the five-term incumbent with paying lip service to conservative priorities and using “identity politics” to divide residents of the battleground 6th Congressional District, he told Colorado Politics.

Although he hasn't launched a campaign yet, Tom Tancredo holds a wide lead in Colorado's crowded Republican gubernatorial primary field and is in a statistical tie with leading Democratic candidate Jared Polis, according to a survey conducted by the pollster who set up the polling and data operations for Donald Trump's  presidential campaign.

Colorado Democrat Michael Baca, one of the so-called "Hamilton electors" who tried to derail Donald Trump's presidential win in the Electoral College, has signed on to a federal lawsuit charging Secretary of State Wayne Williams with voter intimidation because he wouldn't allow Baca to vote for someone other than the winner of Colorado's popular vote.
