The behind-bars death of the founder and leader of Colorado’s 211 Crew, a white supremacist prison gang, renews painful memories in Colorado of the fact that the 2013 assassination of prison chief Tom Clements remains unsolved.
Benjamin Davis was essentially serving a life sentence in part for his activity with the 211 Crew. He was found dead Saturday, according to the Colorado Department of Corrections, and an investigation into his death is ongoing.
Davis was named as a suspect in Clements’ death, but no official link between the gang leader and Evan Ebel, who actually pulled the trigger on Clements’ doorstep in Monument, has ever been released.
