The Republican National Committee announced today a Facebook ad campaign urging Colorado senior Democratic U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet to “commit to an up-or-down vote” on the Senate’s pending confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court. The campaign is part of a six-figure, nationwide effort, “…supporting important Republican agenda items shaping the first 100 days of President Trump’s administration,” according to a press release from the RNC.
“The ad buy includes a package of ads that will air in 2018 battleground states,” the press release states. “The ads call on vulnerable Democrats to support an up or down vote on Judge Gorsuch in the full Senate and support the efforts to repeal Obamacare and replace it with the American Health Care Act.”
A brief, fast-paced video posted to YouTube and soon to be promoted via Facebook tells viewers “Our president has done his job” in appointing Gorsuch and then admonishes Bennet, “Senator…it’s time to put politics aside and do yours.”
Bennet has been coy about whether he will vote to confirm Gorsuch, his fellow Coloradan, and has been under intense pressure from the state’s right-of-center political firmament. Now, the RNC piles on.
